Tips for Being Successful in Kern Learn

Being part of Kern Learn gives you the flexibility to work independently, but it also means taking responsibility for your own learning. Remember that Kern Learn is a college prep level independent studies program, and the work will be at the same level and amount as a college prep class at your home campus. 

Here are some tips to help you stay on track and make the most of your time in the program:

1. Check Canvas Every Day

Canvas is where you’ll find all your assignments, announcements, and grades. Make it a habit to log in daily so you don’t fall behind. Staying consistent is key.

         2. Don’t Be Afraid to Ask for Help

If something doesn’t make sense or you’re feeling stuck, reach out to your teacher. They’re here to support you, but they won’t always know you need help unless you say something.

3. Keep Up With Due Dates

Time management is really important. Use a planner, calendar, or phone reminders to stay organized. Missing assignments can add up quickly, so try not to wait until the last minute.

4. Show Up for In-Person Sessions

You’ll be required to come in for science labs, special projects, and state testing. These aren’t optional, and they’re important for your grades and progress. Be prepared and take them seriously.

5. Create a Good Work Environment
